Killer's Bs miss out in Southgate

Whilst the final score line went against us this was the guttiest performance of the season so far from the Killer Bs.

Slow to start we conceded 2 tries early on from well worked overlaps. Their new centre, Mikey Ettlinger!, having grown about a foot and bulked out in the summer, had a hand in both of them.

However some determined forward play saw us in an improved position on the pitch before a string of passes put Jens Baekelmans away down the right wing. A soft 3rd Sarries try from the kick off with weak tackling was cancelled out by another great solo effort from Jens.

19-12 at half time.

Saracens came out of the blocks hard at the start of the second half, weak tackling saw them go over for 2 more scores.

Then Wasps also stepped it up a notch with strong rucking and forward play, Sean Hyland, Matteo Quike and Haydn Popper working hard in the breakdown with Bojan Cercic and James Cook taking the ball forward in broken play.

Our Tackling improved with Matthew Delargy as Captain leading by Example. Despite all this hard work we just couldn't get the ball over the opposition try line against a stualwart defence before we lost concentration and let them in for another score with only a couple of mins left.

Determined play from the resulting restart saw a turnover and strong run by Arthur Morgan just held up short of the try line, quick ball and a couple more phases from Sean & Cookie, finally saw Matthew bully his way over for a touchdown with the final play of the game. Harry Bird kicked the extras to leave the final score 36-19.

Not a victory but a considerable improvement on last years games v Sarries (34-0 & 54-0)... next year!
