What a difference a week makes to a team. Unlike recent tours to the southern hemisphere we are not going to dwell on an under par performance.

B’s
Suffice to say the B’s had a close and fair game against our friends from Ealing. In the first half, the B’s put in some excellent tackles, Nate especially shone in that department but at half time Ealing were two tries ahead. Theo, Tom Korn and Charlie Williams came on for the second half with Theo making a good penetrating run as scrum half. Kai showed what a natural forward he is, really causing Ealing problems in loose play, ripping out the ball, running up the left wing and off loading to Charlie Williams who scored his second try for Wasps in two weeks. The B’s continued to battle away with Yamato making an important tackle after an Ealing penalty five yards short of our try line. With customary determination, the boys played hard to the last second, scoring another try with a final driving maul. Honourable mentions also go to Mathieu and Adrien.

Most impressive was the attitude of the players and their willingness to substitute for each other. Man of the Match Charlie Williams for some incisive running.

A’s
The A’s lost to a better team on the but not one that we couldn’t have beaten with a full strength squad. A lovely run from Alex Gibbs the length of the pitch gave the A’s our only points. Their hearts were definitely in the game but I felt that the heads were not as engaged as normal. We were missing a few regulars in key positions, some niggling injuries and the fact we did have to experiment with quite a few players out of their normal position. Man of the Match; Leo Currie for some huge covering defence.

The players did well in the circumstances and has given the coaches a task ahead. Firstly we have agreed to rearrange some fixtures to give us space in between games to review the good and bad, reinforce core skills and give the teams time to recover.

The coaches and boys alike would like to thank Alex Lundberg for his time and experience. He kindly gave up his Sunday morning training to give our forwards some invaluable tips and skills in the scrum and the backs some tackling pointers.

Lets chalk this week up to experience and look forward to the round robin with Saracens and Harrow this weekend, the weekend after we have training and a chance to regroup before Richmond just before Christmas.
