Rest in Peace Andy Dun

Rest in Peace Andy Dun

Tom Wisniewski26 Jul 2023 - 14:32

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of former Wasp Andy Dun

Andy Dun passed away suddenly on Sunday, aged 62.

After starting his career at Bristol Andy joined the Wasps when he came to London to train for the medical profession at St Bartholomew's Hospital. He was made vice-captain of Wasps in the 1983-84 season, the season in which he won his England cap. Nigel Melville, the Wasps captain, was injured so Andy frequently led the side. Andy was appointed captain of the Wasps the following season, but injury prevented him from playing.

Whilst at the Wasps he played county rugby for Middlesex and was a member of the London Division side which played the 1981 Australian tourists. Having completed his medical training, Andy returned to play for Bristol in 1985. After retiring from rugby he became a GP in Trowbridge.

Andy was extremely popular with his fellow players. All at Wasps send their sincere sympathy to Andy's family at this sad time.
