The Sevens Rugby World Cup kicks off in Moscow on June 28th, and Wasps player Michaela Staniford has not only been selected for the squad, but also captains her country for the tournament.

Barry Maddocks, head coach of the squad, praised Staniford’s hard work and dedication to the 7s programme. The team includes experienced players such as Alice Richardson and Heather Fisher, whilst five players make their sevens world cup debuts.

In this year’s IRB World Sevens, England finished a strong second, behind New Zealand – meaning the competition in Moscow will be interesting. England have been drawn in a pool with Russia, France and Japan – tough opponents for Day 1.

Big congratulations to Mic!
