Fullback Sam Williams has been a regular for the 1st XV since making his debut for Wasps in 2019, before stepping up as 1st XV Captain for the 2021/22 campaign in which the team finished fourth.

Joining just last season, number 8 Sits played every game for the 1st XV across a variety of different positions (including a brief foray in the centres), and was awarded Players’ Player of the Year from his team mates in recognition. He will be joining Sam as Vice-Captain and pack leader for the 1st XV.

Speaking about the new season, Sam said: “We had a great season last year. This year it looks even more challenging with the new league structure, but with the coaching, players and facilities we have, we want to push for the top of the table and are excited to get stuck in. It’s always an honour to play for Wasps FC and, along with Sits, I’m looking forward to leading the team in the new campaign.”

Sits responded: “Ah – pfffft – I can’t think of anything [to say].”
