In arguably the best performance of the season, the Wasps FC first team continued their unbeaten run in the Herts/Middx Division 1 by beating a strong Hackney Bulls side.
The bulls put Wasps under pressure from the start, but the home side took a 13 point lead through two tries and a penalty goal kicked by the trusted boot of Alex Hodgkinson. The first touchdown was a well worked team effort with the ball being moved wide to no 11, "Gorgeous" George Stokes in space. Still with some work to do, he outpaced the strong Bulls' defence and finished well down the left flank to make it look easy. 15 minutes later came a brilliant individual and opportunistic effort from Wasps' BJ Dean. Running from the 10m line, the Wasps outside Half opened up the Bulls defence and then just kept on beating players before scoring to the right of the posts.
In the second half Hackey Bulls changed their tactics, preferring to hit up the middle rather than get the ball wide. This caused Wasps problems but resolute defence saw Wasps through to their 9th win out of 9 in the league. The win was eventually secured by a converted try, ran in by scrum half Tim Davies, and an easily kicked penalty from Golden boots Hodgey.
