Wasps FC Ladies win place in new RFU Women's Super League

Wasps FC are delighted to confirm that their ladies' premiership team has been invited to take part in the inaugural RFU Women's Super Rugby competition.

Giselle Mather, Wasps FC Ladies Director of Rugby said "All at Wasps FC are thrilled to be included in the new Women's Super Rugby Competition. Wasps FC Ladies has a long and proud history in the women's game and inclusion in the new league will take our game to a new and very exciting level. We have worked hard in preparation for this moment and we look forward to bringing a high-level performance environment to London. The Women's Super league will be a very exciting and challenging competition".

The new competition has been created following a comprehensive RFU review of the women's game and reflects the growing popularity and success of it. The 10 clubs that form the new league took part in a rigorous 3 month selection process and first matches kick-off in September 2017.

Richard Green, chairman of the 150 year old club said "It's a huge honour to be part of this new Women's Super League, and it recognises the blood, sweat and tears that thousands of Waspies have shed in the 30 plus years of women's rugby at the club. We are immensely proud of their achievements and I am sure the best is to come! Wasps everywhere will be thrilled to hear this news. Once a Wasp, always a Wasp!"
