After the Lions... Bon Voyage: William et Fabrice

Dom Benson6 Jul 2013 - 11:06

William Price (14) & Fabrice Lavenir (16) left for Budapest on Sunday 7th July and supporters threw a small Bon Voyage party for them on Saturday 6th

Serge Betsen and Joe Simpson were in attendance, along with many friends and family members pour le "Grand Départ!" What a weekend! Serge, The Lions and And Murray all rolled into one!

Here's Dick Curtis's report:

Twyford Avenue : a Scorching Saturday

On Saturday 6th July the Twyford Avenue clubhouse was packed
with three generations of Wasps - not retreating from the 30oC+
gorgeous sunshine but watching the British and Irish Lions' third
and tour-winning Test v the Wallabies. With supporters for both
teams offering the ref and their friends advice while celebrating
and bemoaning errors. Lively company, good ale and the game
itself made for a great gathering.

After the game, forty plus minis, continued the tradition of the
madness of going out into the midday sun by galloping around
under blazing sun enthusiastically enjoyed the training session
offered by the London Wasps Community team.

......... and later Serge Betsen and Jo Simpson appeared to join the Bon Voyage party organised for young FC players - William Price (14) and Fabrice Lavenir (16) before they set-off on their 1,957 mile fundraising cycle trip from Budapest, along with Robert Guyot (67), via Constanta, Roumania] to London in aid of the Serge Betsen Academy that helps children in Africa and the French Red Cross.

....... quite a day !
