Two Wasps ladies have been named in the England training squad in preparation for the Quilter Internationals in November. Claudia Macdonald is one of three uncapped players called up to the camp, she will be joined by clubmate Abby Dow. The four-day training camp will take place at Loughborough University from Thursday 4th October.
Claudia Macdonald has impressed in black and gold since joining in the summer. The livewire scrum-half has fantastic natural ability to spot gaps and break through defences. Having started all four games so far this season, she already has two tries to her name. The call-up to the training camp gives her a chance to impress before the squad is announced on 18th October.
Abby Dow, the electric winger, was Wasps top try scorer in the league last year with 16 tries in 16 appearances. Having recently celebrated her 21st birthday, she’ll be looking to add to her 5 England caps over the November internationals. Abby has also been in fine form for the club with two tries in the opening four games of the Tyrrell’s Premier 15s season.
The training camp with help head coach Simon Middleton decide on his squad to take into the Quilter Internationals. England will take part in three tests across November, firstly hosting USA at Allianz Park on Friday 9th. They will then travel to Doncaster as they face Canada at Castle Park, before ending at Twickenham on Saturday 24th November against Ireland.
