Wasps came out with a sting in their tail - turnovers from Claire Molloy and Cliodhna Moloney and huge hits from Helene Caux and Harriet Millar-Mills putting pressure on the hosts from the start. A stunning intercept from Christiana Balogun led Wasps to their first try, running it over herself from just inside Saracen's half.
Wasps pinned Saracens into their own half, making hard work for the hosts and denying them opportunities to play. Wasps' second try was the makings of a strong midfield defensive set that earned them a line out on the 5m. Wasps drove towards the line and it was Bryony Cleall who took it over.
A third came shortly after, this time from Ellie Boatman on the wing, batting away Saracec's defence and running it in from the halfway to cross over in the corner. Flo Williams made it three from three with. tricky conversion out wide.
Saracens snuck in a try in the final minutes of the half after a knock on from Wasps gave them a scrum inside Wasps' 22m. They sent it wide from the scrum and their no. 11 ran it over. A successful conversion took the half time score to 7-21.
Wasps kicked off the second half and forced a knock on from Packer giving them possession in the first minute. It was Wasps who took the first score of the half with a stunner from Amy Wilson Hardy.
Saracens turned up the heat and with penalties against them Wasps conceded two tries, the first from Packer and the second from Campbell.
Two yellow cards were awarded in the second half after Bryony Cleall was tackled off the ball by Packer. Both players were sent off the field, leaving just 14 women a side.
The last quarter of the game saw Saracens steal the game with two more tries, the first from a 5m line out and the second from a midfield scrum.
Despite the loss on the field, Wasps came out with their place in the tables undecided- with 5th, 6th and 7th place up for grabs. After a strong performance and a losing bonus point, they secure a 5th place finish with lots to be proud of to take into 22/23 season.
