Wasps First XV continued their Counties 1 Middlesex campaign in style on Saturday, producing an excellent attacking performance to defeat CS Stags 1863 II 45–29 away from home. Seven tries, including a hat-trick from Desmond Geotrah, helped Wasps secure a convincing victory in an entertaining contest.

Wasps made the perfect start to the afternoon. Desmond Geotrah crossed for the opening try after just 12 minutes, with Xavier Back adding the conversion to give the visitors an early 7–0 lead.

CS Stags responded with a try of their own to bring the scores level at 7–7, but Wasps quickly regained control. Geotrah crossed for his second try of the afternoon on 36 minutes, with Back converting to restore the visitors' advantage.

Wasps then began to build momentum. Alexander Hilton crossed for the third try on 39 minutes, before William Simpson added another just after the restart. Back converted both scores, helping Wasps establish a commanding 28–7 lead and put themselves firmly in control of the contest.

CS Stags refused to go away, however, and responded with a try of their own on 52 minutes to reduce the deficit. Wasps answered almost immediately. Charlie Morgans crossed on 55 minutes, and Back added the conversion to extend the lead to 35–12.

The home side continued to battle and found another try on 58 minutes, but Wasps delivered another important response. Geotrah completed his hat-trick on 67 minutes, capping an outstanding individual performance and pushing Wasps further ahead at 40–17.

With CS Stags shown a yellow card in the second half, Wasps looked well placed to see out the game. The hosts nevertheless showed plenty of character, scoring twice more in the closing stages to bring the score back to 40–29 and put some pressure on the visitors.

Wasps had the final say. With the clock reaching 81 minutes, Xavier Back crossed for the seventh Wasps try of the afternoon to put the result beyond doubt. Although the conversion was not recorded, the score capped an impressive attacking display and secured a 45–29 victory.

It was a strong performance from Wasps First XV, who showed their attacking quality throughout the afternoon. Geotrah's hat-trick was a particular highlight, while tries from Hilton, Simpson, Morgans and Back demonstrated the threat Wasps carried across the team.

Although CS Stags made sure Wasps had to work hard until the final stages, the visitors responded well whenever the home side threatened to build momentum. Scoring seven tries away from home was an excellent return and gives Wasps plenty of positives to take into their next fixture.

An impressive away win and another valuable result for Wasps First XV in Counties 1 Middlesex.
