Wasps U13B ended up with a loosing bonus point after a hard fought game v Hertford. final score 5-10

After a late kick-off the game got underway and for the first 5 minutes Hert's had us entrenched in our own half with the boys having to fight every yard to keep them from scoring. However, it was the Killer B's who managed to take the first points.

The try came from a very quick tap penalty from Mikey catching the opposition off guard and passing the ball out to Harry Bird, who then had a brilliant run two thirds of the pitch to get Wasps first on the scoreboard.

Up until then it had been mostly Herts pushing us further and further back in our own half. Whilst the boys seemed to lack confidence in their offensive play, their defensive tackling was really outstanding and on three occasions they held the Hert's front row off the try line.

We were unfortunate to lose scrum half Connor in the earlier part of the game, due to a nasty cut beneath the eye.

In the second half Wasps did up the tempo and had a few good drives, but final ball handling and second phase possession was poor. We were lacking in stamina and Hert's exploited this, along with having strong winds in their favor - their flyhalf used positional kicks behind the back line to good effect and subsequently they scored down the wing to level the game.

Finally in the last moments of the game, Hert's forwards drove over the tryline to take the game 10-5.

It was a tough game, the boys could have won this and all of them felt that they could have done more, but Hert's wanted it more on the day and they deserved the final score.

Man of the match goes to Mikey Ettlinger for some very quick thinking reading the game well.
