The U13A team pushed up the league table with an emphatic victory by 8 tries to 1 against London Welsh. Final score 48 - 7

The day our group of rugby players showed that they are a team.

This match exemplified to the hordes of supporters crowding the pitch just how
the game should be played (and how far Wasps U13 have come).

Ferocious with ball in hand, we saw the pick and drive executed with military
precision. At scrum half Chris and then George harangued, harassed, harried and
hollered the forwards to keep the ball moving forward. It didn't take long for
the tactic to reap rewards; Benedict (one of five fiendishly fearsome front row
players for the day together with Ben, Haydn, Sam and Magnus) scored quickly,
settled the team and then the floodgates opened.

The bold backline bullied the boys from the valleys and releases our runners
with rapidity; rapier-like they scythed through the defence to score, score, and
score again.

Marshalled by Alfie at centre, and with the star turns all over the park, this
was not a day to be facing a team playing their best rugby of the season but
London Welsh players did not let their heads drop and they helped to make it a
good spectacle. They deserved their score which served to remind our defence
that improvements can still be made.

Much of the second half had experimental combinations all over the pitch, giving
players good game time and allowing the ‘new caps’ (Alex and Arthur) to
successfully feel their way into the squad. Never did these changes seem to
weaken the team, and in fact, the selectors have some interesting decisions to
make!

Improving on this performance is going to be hard, but with a squad with real
depth and competition for all positions we can at least look forward with
confidence. This match took us to second in the table and in a fortnight we face
the league leaders: roll on Saracens.

Scorers:
           Benedict (one try)
           Chris (one try, one conversion)
           Adeola (four tries)
           Arthur (one try)
           Alfie (one try, three conversions)

Man of the Match: Joseph Rigal

All eyes turn to Wasps v Saracens in 2 weeks time for a top of the table clash.
