Ickenham & Uxbridge 27–21 Wasps FC, 10th October 2026, Uxbridge Sports Centre, Middlesex Merit Table Two

Wasps 2nds suffered another narrow defeat away to Ickenham & Uxbridge on Saturday, going down 27–21 in a competitive Division 2 encounter. Despite a spirited performance and late tries from Tomas Furness and Max Rigby, Wasps were unable to complete the comeback against a determined home side.

Wasps made a strong start to the afternoon and took the lead after just eight minutes. Max Rigby provided the assist for Jake Lovell-Hewitt, who crossed for the opening try. Tomas Furness added the conversion to give Wasps an early 7–0 advantage.

Ickenham & Uxbridge responded on 23 minutes, crossing for a try and adding the conversion to bring the scores level at 7–7. The home side continued to build momentum, adding another two tries to bring the Half Time score to 17-7 to Ickenham & Uxbridge.

Wasps needed a response after the break and continued to compete as they looked for a way back into the game. However, Ickenham & Uxbridge maintained their advantage, adding further points and leaving the visitors with plenty of work to do in the closing stages.

Tomas Furness gave Wasps renewed hope on 68 minutes, crossing for a try before converting his own score to keep the visitors in contention.
The momentum continued to swing as Ickenham & Uxbridge responded with another try on 72 minutes. Wasps, though, refused to give up and produced another important attacking moment four minutes later.

Marc Dandois provided the assist for Max Rigby, who crossed for Wasps' third try of the afternoon on 76 minutes. Furness again added the conversion, bringing the score to 27–21 and setting up a tense finish.

With Wasps pushing for a potential equaliser, the final stages remained competitive. Ickenham & Uxbridge managed to find another try in the 78th minute, however, to help secure the victory.

Although the result went against Wasps, there were positives to take from the performance. The team showed determination to fight back late in the game, with Rigby contributing both an assist and a try, while Furness delivered an important contribution with the ball in hand and from the kicking tee.

Jake Lovell-Hewitt was named Player of the Match following his early try and an impressive contribution to the Wasps performance.
Ultimately, Wasps will be disappointed not to have taken something from a closely contested encounter, but the late fightback demonstrated the team's willingness to keep battling until the final whistle.
