Over the line, top of the table, unbeaten and ready to take on League 1.

Bedford is a very long way. The journey started with news of a couple of players unavailable at the last minute.. this made the journey seem even longer. However, having arrived in the middle of nowhere, with the sun shining and bitter wind blowing and seventeen hardy souls ready and willing to lay down the final marker for those in the division above for next year... we were ready.

And boy did we need to be. Bedford are no pushovers and they duly kicked off with the wind and camped on Wasps' line for pretty much the whole first half. Their pack was sharp and Wasps defence was good, in the main. They scored first and the single Wasps foray into the Bedford half (two huge carries by Charbel) resulted in an excellent try for Benedict who was AWESOME.

Bedford scored a couple more before half time, leaving Wasps facing their first league defeat of the season. At 15:5 down and with injuries to Sam T and Hugo we were not only threadbare, but also having to play a number of people out of position. They all deserve huge credit for being willing to put their bodies on the line for the their teammates and the club.

The second half was very different. With the wind in their backs Wasps finally managed to get some continuity and Bedford wilted under the pressure. Two converted tries followed and Wasps' lead was easily protected for the final 15 minutes.

Bedford certainly showed why they were playing at a higher level only last season and Wasps also showed that they belong in Division 1.

Full reflections on the season will come later, but for now we can certainly say that the squad has strength, depth, and heart. All of these will stand the players in good stead for next season.

Tries: Benedict, Matt, Zico.
Conversions: Greg (2).
Man of the Match: Benedict "how many does it take to stop" White
