Congrats to our intrepid tourists fronting up and representing the club in the heartland of rugby, and to St Joes for hosting us.

This was a typically touring side's match. Players who aren't used to being a team took a while to get adjusted. The first few minutes were spent in defence and then a fantastic breakaway try by Philippe Hounto converted by Simeon Aldridge flattered Wasps.

Very quickly St. Joes let their team cohesion and A-team standard set the benchmark for the match and ran in four very quick tries. At this point Wasps started to get their act together, commit more vigorously at the breakdown, and start putting some phases together. Philippe went over again and at half-time the score was 26-12.

The half-time talk was clear: this game was for the winning if only we could play to our strengths. This was not to be as the second half started a little erratically and St J's managed three quick scores before Wasps finally made their superior fitness and count.

George Rivet went over for a great score and it was certainly game-on. With 15 minutes to go the Wasps never let their heads go down and although St J's managed another score, a fantastic #8 pickup by Zico Al-Ghabban with a great off-load allowed David Bull to score.

The final move of the match was certainly one to give support runners the jitters. David took the ball in his own 22 and decided to weave.. (yes, weave: backwards, forward, sideways...) and give no-one (not even his team maters) any idea what was going to happen next. His final pass to Philippe allowed a nice final score to give the final tally of 52 to St J's and 31 to Wasps.

Well done to a great touring side who had a fantastic visit to Cardiff Castle before the game, and walk up the banks of the Taff to Blackweir Pitches for the game.

The singalongs in Welsh were also fantastic.

Tries: Philippe (3), George, David
Conversions: Simeon (3)

Well done to everyone who had to play in unusual positions and put in the yards for the team. EXCELLENT!!!
