The storm clouds parted to allow a dominant display from a fired up Wasps team

Sunshine in West London and the first game of rugby since Christmas for most of the players on the pitch. This was a strong team put out by Wasps and the game was won through speed of though, execution and sheer power. The major ball carriers, Benedict, Zico, Charbel, and Bojan, punched hole after hole in the Harrow defence; this resulted in many of the 14 tries by Wasps. Not only was the power play good, but also the well-managed breakdown. Luke particularly was awesome at the breakdown; the line outs had Sean playing a blinder at the front of the line, Sam throwing straight and true and George leaping like a gazelle. This all meant that Wasps rarely didn't have control of the ball. The scrum was also immense and then when Alex came on the momentum was maintained. Alex is improving and benefiting from all the extra game time.

The backs also got in on the act. Will J had one of his storming games, seeing gap after gap and Hugo was immense at inside-centre. His passing was exemplary and testifies to commitment to training and making it count in the game.

Philippe has his first game for the As and was strong with ball in hand and committed in defence. No one would have liked to be a recipient of one of his crunching tackles. The back three changed around a lot during the game, but all three full-backs played well and strong with Arthur making excellent timed runs into the line and Lewis getting much more of the ball than he has seen since joining the club. David also had to move around and enjoyed a bit of freedom at fly-half. David and Will N both enjoyed taking drop-kicks for conversions... getting ready for sevens? I

t was great to see James H and Jack D get good game time and James H made a few fine tackles in the second half and Jack also managed a well-worked score. They both demonstrated that it isn't all about power: playing 'smart' gets you just as far. Ben B and Will N shared duties at scrum half and the fact that so many tries were scored out wide shows that the speed of delivery was just right.

This was a good runout.. cobwebs were blown away... the opposition too.... and now we have one more match before the league kicks back in. There is much to be worked on, but most importantly, there is a strong foundation to build upon. Time for training chaps!

Onwards and upwards.

Apologies if I missed some of the points.. it was hard to keep up!
