“Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates…”
WASPS Occys 15 vs London Japanese 10

And so it proved, in this extremely well-mannered yet competitive encounter.

Conditions were fine but for the wind gusting upto 25knots. This meant much of the lineout took place right at the front where a chap called Gareth, who was their man of the match, utilised his extensive wing-span to win all of theirs and many of ours to boot. In addition, as ever, their midfielder often showed good hands and smart looping manoeuvres to iteratively get width. Oh aye and their hooker was in everything (inevitably!). You would think that having a large squad would be an advantage but as part of our remit is to give everybody run it actually gets logistically quite complex. Our thanks to Wayne-o in the first half and Inigo in 2nd for managing the team-sheet. So what advantage did we have? Well rucking and counter-rucking remained a strong suit and when we had trail runners moving forward well.
A good run with a try (Murph), penalty kick (Prof Bull) and converted penalty try (Dion with the carry).

Too many to detail performance in the round. Will mention;

Debuts
Perry, Luke, Teo, Brendan, Sam and the two Scouse irregulars (Dan G & Aaron). Good effort gents.

DoD
Your correspondent unanimously awarded himself this prize for simultaneously robbing Perry of a try on his debut and doing a “Forrest Gump” to run off the pitch, ground the ball and thus score a “non-try”.

Man of the match
Prof Bull who not content with playing 8 also had a stint at 12 & 15 for good measure.

Thanks to one and all. Next match CS Barbars 23 Jan 15.
