Vaughan stole the ball and ran 3/4 of the pitch facing 3 of them, staggered through 1st tackle & then taken down just short of line. Penalty for not allowing ball to be played. Callixte tapped it quickly and spun along the line for a fine try.

Aussie Sam on his debut in this code had some good open play too.

Physically we were up to it, though probably older/less fit but they aced us on organisation smoothly feeding the ball along the line, stealing the ball in the breakdown and later their rolling maul came into play.

Part of this lack of organisation came out with some discipline issues: early on your correspondent was guilty of taking the law (& the ball) into his own hands, there were numerous offside infringements and some unnecessary "gobbling-off" to the ref. this cannot happen again.

The flip side is everybody wanted to play, even when towards the end heavily down the generous offer of 2nd Subs to come on was rebuffed, except for Chucky replacing the injured Santi.
