Another bonus point win for the boys!

A makeshift U17 team gained a good bonus point win over Harrow RFC in this HML league encounter.

With many of the team playing together for the first time and various injuries (3 of the starting XV including the captain inside 2 minutes) and dare I say a little complacency meant we failed to build any structure early on and the players struggled to keep up with the aggressive start of our hosts, who with the strong wind favouring them exploited the conditions well.

Despite conceding territory for most of the first half the boys still managed to exploit the rare possession they had, to go into the half time break with a narrow lead. With Jamal and the swashbuckling Eden putting Wasps FC ahead, the team always seemed to be in control and an "the oppo are not crossing our line" attitude further underlined the increasing confidence of the team.

A half time retrospection by the boys, the wind died down, the sun came out and they finally woke up for the second half. The team began to put some structure together and run through the phases. The moment of the match came with the ball on our 22, fly half Daniel took a pass from scrum half Theo. He went onto provide the most sublime 40 metre cross field chip into the hands of fast running winger Jamal who without breaking stride caught the ball, side stepped the full back to finish under the posts. Eden scored his second try with a 15 phase move from the half way line.

The team ran through phases and gaps began to open up allowing our runners to hit the spaces and create go forward. Jamal duly completed his hat-trick and Eden got his second with another slick passing move among the forwards.

Good outting for the boys today - slow start but always in control
