Margaret Skinner, Once a Wasp always a Wasp

Margaret Skinner, Once a Wasp always a Wasp

Kate Hallett

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Margaret Skinner.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Margaret Skinner.

Margaret was the matriarch of perhaps the best-known and most-loved family at Wasps in recent times. Her beloved husband, Roger, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2024, introduced her to Wasps early in their courtship. She followed his playing career from the 1st XV to his beloved Nomads. Later, she ran the club shop for many years at Sudbury, and together they proudly watched their sons, Michael and Peter, grow from ball boys into 1st XV players.

So many former players have said how much Roger and Margaret were part of their lives at Wasps, and that they epitomised what Wasps means to us all.

Outside of rugby, Margaret was a very keen tennis player and had just taken up padel in her 80s. It is bittersweet that she passed away peacefully while watching the Wimbledon finals this weekend.

Our love and condolences go to Michael, Peter, and all of the Skinner family at this difficult time.
