It is with great sadness that the Club has to inform you of the passing of another great Wasp, Barry Evans.

Barry passed away after a very short illness in late October, just short of his
70th birthday.

The following tribute was received from one of our Vice Presidents:

Barry, a proud Welshman, was a member of Wasps senior playing squad in
the 1970s as a powerful centre/wing three quarter. He subsequently
played his social rugby lower down the Club where his playing days were
curtailed by a serious knee injury "sustained on the field of battle".

Barry then became involved in the coaching of youth rugby, initially at
Ruislip RFC and then with Wasps Under 18s and Under 21s back at Sudbury
up until the inception of professional rugby.

In recent years, he and Yvonne have been loyal followers of Wasps abroad on
their search for success in the European Championships. Barry was a member
of the Wasps Golfing Society and was due to be its Captain next season. Barry
was a great bloke, friend and a Wasp through and through. He will be sorely
missed by us all.
