Wasps will host Worcester Valkyries for their first home game of the season at Tywford Avenue this Saturday. On the back of an impressive victory over Firwood Waterloo last weekend, Wasps will be hoping to add to the two wins out of three so far this season. The visitors have had a difficult start to the season and are still seeking their first victory.
Wasps make just four changes to the starting lineup that secured the bonus point win in Waterloo last Saturday. Katie Mason (Sponsored by Snap Sponsorship/LION Academy) returns to the side at outside centre, making her second start for the club after joining over the summer.
In a rearranged backrow, Nicola Smith makes her first appearance of the season and will start at number eight. Megan Horwood (Sponsored by Newbury Self Store) earns a start at flanker while Liz Crake moves into the second row to partner Alice Sheffield.
The final change to the starting lineup sees Claire Purdy (Sponsored by JHA Recruitment) regain her place in the front row, after a two-week hiatus.
Club captain, Kate Alder, returns to the squad on the bench. Kasey Allen and Izzy Fisher, who both started for the 2nd XV last weekend, make their way into the replacements.
Wasps will hope for a repeat of last season when they welcomed Worcester Valkyries to Tywford, as they ran out 55-5 winners. The game will be particularly memorable for flanker Sarah Mitchelson (Sponsored by YES Mortgage Services Limited) and hooker Hannah West as they both had a hat-trick of tries to their names.
With both 1st and 2nd XV in action, it promises to be an exciting afternoon of rugby at Tywford Avenue. Wasps will be looking to secure back-to-back league wins before the week off next weekend and maintain their top four league position.
