We're finding out a little more about some of our players on International Women's Day - Our third interview of the day is with Rose Dixon

What is your role at the club?
I joined Wasps in 2015 and now play full-back for the development team. I train twice a week between work and do individual strength & conditioning using programmes provided to us by S&C coaches.

What is your job outside of rugby?
I work in communications for the Royal Navy and have recently returned from a Middle Eastern trip where we seized nearly 10 tonnes of hash worth £75 million. I joined the Royal Navy because I didn’t want a normal job, so I decided to follow in the footsteps of a family member who was a Royal Marine. Before joining the Navy, I was a tennis coach.

What is your best rugby memory?
My best rugby memory is my first team debut for Wasps FC.

What is your favourite thing about being part of Wasps?
The family environment. Wasps has a great history and ethos which resonates through all of the players and coaches, this makes it a really supportive, family environment and allowed me to grow as a player in many areas such as skill, fitness and confidence.

What piece of advice would you give girls starting out their rugby journeys?
It’s the best sport ever! There can be a lot of stigma or surprise around girls playing a contact sport such as rugby but that’s definitely something to take pride in and stick with. You make friends for life and form the closest bonds with people.
