A threat to the world-famous Kiwi haka is brewing from the Mini Wasps U6 team where the English-breakfast battle-cry can be heard on Sunday mornings bouncing off the semi-detacheds surrounding the Twyford training ground.

In the all-black corner, The “Ka Maté – Ka Maté” (“Tis Death - Tis Death”) haka has over 9, 515,570 views. In the yellow and black corner the Wasps Under 6 incarnation: “Cuppa-Tea, Cuppa-Tea” steams-in, set to become an even bigger internet sensation!

The U6 haka symbolises the mantra of 6 dedicated-dad coaches that teaching 5 year olds to love rugby is far more important than teaching to how to play rugby. As coach Callixte-Tillette de Clermont-Tonnerre put it:

“Knowledge and experience of rugby counts for very leetle. Zee type of skill an U6 coach really needs is, like, knowing ’ow to heard dozens of gerbils through zee same toilet roll whilst making zem all laugh at zee same time”.

The coaches take care to foster fun and passion on high alert to notice any children that seem less involved or less smiley than others and to change this. The rugby-football skills are going from strength to strength with increasing numbers of girls and boys joining each week.

Ppssstt. It has been tweeted that the real reason Martin Johnson has stood down is because he failed to take Jim Millander’s advice for the England team to employ the U6 haka - which includes gestures such as cup-holding with little finger pointing in the air – before kick-off at the recent world cup match against the French.
