At the last Minis Chairs meeting we discussed the issue of there being no IRB/RFU approved sports goggles available for young players playing contact rugby. We agreed to organise a survey of parents of mini rugby players to see what people generally think about young people with impaired eyesight wearing sports goggles and to get an idea of how many players are affected by the current situation. The assumption is that the goggles have been prescribed for the player by an optician and are needed by the player to play safely. They would be plastic, durable and with no sharp-edges and would be checked by the coach/referee prior to training or games as with other clothing.
