It is with great sadness that Wasps FC mourns the passing of two former players, Ronnie Syrett and Vince Owen.

Ronnie Syrett played for Wasps firsts from the late 1940s and also played 11 times for England. He won his first cap for England v Wales at Twickenham, 18 January, 1958 and his last cap v France at Colombes, 24 February, 1962. Ronnie was a skilful, tough, gentleman of the game and played with passion but never with malice or deceit. During his time at Wasps, he played alongside Nev Compton, Pat Sykes, Peter Till and his brother-in-law, Ted Woodward. Ronnie is mentioned in Barney Burnham's World Rugby Museum blog post about the Club's 150 year history (see: https://worldrugbymuseumblog.wordpress.com/2017/11/20/150-years-of-wasps-rugby/).

We are sorry to inform you that Ronnie's funeral took place on Thursday 31st May. The photograph above is the 1948/49 1st XV and is kept in Wasps FC's clubhouse. It shows Ronnie second from the right on the back row.

Vince Owen passed away on Friday 18 May. Vince played hooker for the 1st XV and Vandals during the 1980s, a great player and good clubman. Vince ended his playing career at Old Northamptionians RFC and went on to be President for a number of years.
